Angel paintball guns are the most popular model for collectors and hobbyists, with one in five people using them, according to a survey released Thursday by the Pew Research Center.
But for the most part, they cost up to $3 and up to about $10 more than other models.
“A paintballgun is a great way to play paintball,” said Steve Ragan, a hobbyist who runs the blog Paintball Guns and Ammo.
“You don’t need a lot of cash to buy one.”
The Pew survey found that nearly two-thirds of people in the United States own a paintball weapon, but that the average price is $2.80 per gun.
In addition, most owners say they’ve owned a paintgun for a few years, though it can be a time-consuming process.
The Pew study, which asked a series of questions about the paintball industry and hobbyist, found that the hobbyists who owned the most paintball weapons were women, people who live in urban areas, people with children and those with higher incomes.
Among the people who owned paintballs, the Pew survey also found that people who used paintballs to play football, paintball golf and paintball target shooting were more likely to be women than those who played the game indoors.
While the survey didn’t include data on how many paintballs are being used, Ragan said that people buying paintballs have an interest in owning them.
“The industry is in a pretty tough spot, as they’re not making as much money as they used to,” he said.
The paintball market is growing fast, and the hobbyist market is expanding, he said, adding that there are now more people playing paintball than ever before.
Ragan also said that while the paintballs that people own can be used for more than one hobby, the hobby is becoming more focused on the indoor games and paintballs.
“There’s less money going into the hobby than it used to be,” he added.
The survey also asked people if they were familiar with the paintguns they owned.
The majority of people said they were, and about half of people who were familiar said they owned two or more paintguns, according, the survey.
The other half said they didn’t know how to use one of the paintgos, the researchers said.
“We don’t know if that’s a reflection of the hobby, or because they’re too busy to learn, or both,” Ragan added.
But it does seem to be a growing industry, and it’s growing in popularity, according the Pew report.
“In the last couple years, the popularity of paintball has grown and people are trying out the new toys,” said Ragan.
“People are getting into paintball because they want to compete and have fun.”
He said that the popularity is fueled by the popularity and accessibility of the game.
“It’s more accessible than any other sport and people have a lot more time on their hands, and they want more of that,” he noted.
A recent survey of the U.S. paintball community found that about a third of people use paintballs for recreation, with a third for self-defense.
Rohan said that if a person plays paintball outdoors and uses the guns, he or she should keep the guns unloaded.
“But if they’re playing indoors and the gun is loaded, I’d recommend keeping the gun unloaded, but it’s still a good idea to have the gun out there to be safe,” he advised.
